The Stop Smoking Service provides a comprehensive range of free, friendly and confidential support across Middlesbrough and Redcar & Cleveland, to help you quit smoking.
E-cigarette pilot
Do you want to quit smoking? We’re running an electronic cigarette (e-cigarette) pilot to help people quit smoking, and we’re looking for people to take part. Find out more about the e-cigarette pilot.
Stop smoking clinics
We run stop smoking clinics at a variety of convenient community venues, including at evenings and weekends. There are also a number of pharmacies and GP practices which can offer stop smoking treatments.
Referrals
Many people we work with are referred to us by a health care professional, doctor, consultant, health visitor, or community nurse. The referral would happen as part of your existing treatment plan. You’d have to give your consent for your details to be shared with the Stop Smoking Service.
We’ll then contact you, explain the different types of service we offer, and book you into the service you choose.
If you’re not working with any healthcare professional, you can refer yourself to the Stop Smoking Service by filling in our online form.
Midwife referrals
As part of the South Tees Hospitals Foundation Trust’s maternity pathway, in line with NICE guidance, all pregnant women who smoke, have stopped smoking for less than two weeks, or whose carbon monoxide screening is greater than 4ppm, are referred. The Stop Smoking Service will make contact to provide advice or arrange an appointment as required.
Quit smoking without help
We know that not everyone wants to attend clinic or see an advisor, so we also provide online guidance. You also have the option of requesting support by phone, SMS (text message), or email.
